INCLUSION AND SEN

Welcome to Inclusion at Shamblehurst Primary School

At Shamblehurst Primary School, our motto, "Together We Can," lies at the heart of everything we do. Guided by our values of Respect, Curiosity, Courage and Pride, we are committed to creating an inclusive environment where every child feels valued, supported and empowered to achieve their full potential.

We believe that every child is unique and that diversity enriches our school community. Through our 'curious not furious' approach, we promote the spiritual, moral, social and cultural development of all pupils, helping them to build positive relationships, develop confidence, celebrate differences and become compassionate, lifelong learners.

Our vision is to discover the brilliance in everyone by creating:

  • A happy and healthy community

  • An engaged and accountable community

  • A compassionate and kind community

  • An inclusive community of lifelong learners

  • A community of empathetic and curious critical thinkers

  • A community that celebrates diversity

  • A community of global citizens

Our Inclusion Team

At Shamblehurst Primary School, inclusion is a shared responsibility and is led by our dedicated Inclusion Team:

  • Katie Edwards – SENDCo (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities Coordinator)

  • Sally Mohamed – Deputy Headteacher and Named Teacher

  • Lisa Wright – EYFS Lead

  • Donna Bartlett – Pastoral Lead

  • Zoe Warner – Speech and Language Assistant Teacher

Working closely with class teachers, support staff, families and external agencies, our Inclusion Team ensures that every child receives the support, guidance and opportunities they need to thrive academically, socially and emotionally at different stages of their educational journey.

Our Commitment to Inclusion

We are committed to ensuring that all pupils are fully included in every aspect of school life. We recognise that children learn in different ways and may require varying levels of support at different stages of their education.

All pupils, including those with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), are entitled to access a broad, balanced and ambitious curriculum that meets their individual needs. We strive to remove barriers to learning and participation, enabling every child to achieve success regardless of their gender, ethnicity, faith, background, ability or additional needs.

Some pupils may require short-term support to overcome specific challenges, while others may need more personalised and long-term provision. Through early identification, high-quality teaching, targeted interventions and strong partnerships with families, we ensure that every child receives the right support at the right time.

At Shamblehurst Primary School, we are proud to foster a culture where every child belongs, every child is valued and every child has the opportunity to flourish. Together, we can achieve great things.
