SAFEGUARDING
At Shamblehurst Primary School, we are proud of the strong safeguarding culture that permeates every aspect of school life.
Safeguarding is not viewed as a standalone responsibility; it is a shared commitment embraced by all staff, governors, volunteers, pupils and families. We have created an environment where children feel safe, respected and valued, and where they know that their voices will be heard. This culture of vigilance, care and accountability ensures that safeguarding remains everyone's responsibility and is central to every decision we make.
Our approach is firmly rooted in the principles set out in Keeping Children Safe in Education and is informed by the guidance and procedures of the Hampshire Safeguarding Children Partnership and Hampshire County Council. We take a child-centred approach, recognising that effective safeguarding relies upon strong relationships, professional curiosity, timely intervention and effective partnership working with families and external agencies.
Through high-quality training, robust policies and procedures, safer recruitment practices and a commitment to ongoing vigilance, we ensure that all members of our school community understand their safeguarding responsibilities. Children are taught how to stay safe, both online and offline, and are encouraged to speak openly with trusted adults whenever they have a worry or concern.
At Shamblehurst, we believe that safeguarding is fundamental to children achieving their full potential. By fostering a culture of openness, trust and respect, we ensure that every child is known, nurtured, protected and empowered to flourish both now and in the future.
