Bringing War Horse to Life in Year 6
Year 6 enjoyed an unforgettable experience studying War Horse as part of their English writing journey. After watching the stage production at the Mayflower Theatre, the children welcomed members of the cast, ITV News and Baby Joey from War Horse into school.
The experience brought their learning to life, inspiring the children to explore the perspectives of Joey and Topthorn and develop their character voice through creative writing. They also focused on rewriting a chapter from Joey’s perspective, developing their use of punctuation, sentence structures and vocabulary.
