PSHE

Personal, Social, Health and Economic Education

At Shamblehurst Primary School, we use the SCARF PSHE programme to support pupils' personal development, wellbeing and preparation for life in modern Britain. Through engaging, age-appropriate lessons and interactive workshops, children develop the knowledge, skills and confidence they need to stay safe, healthy and emotionally well.

SCARF helps pupils understand physical and mental wellbeing, manage their emotions, build resilience, and establish positive, respectful relationships. Our curriculum promotes the values of inclusion, respect and responsibility, supporting pupils' spiritual, moral, social and cultural (SMSC) development while meeting the requirements of the National Curriculum and Ofsted's focus on personal development.

Once a year we take part in the programme's educator-led workshops to further enrich learning by creating safe spaces for discussion and enabling children to explore important themes such as feelings, relationships and wellbeing with confidence, understanding and empathy. Through SCARF, we aim to help every child thrive academically, socially and personally.
