Aims

The wrap around school provision is now run as part of Shamblehurst Primary School and all staff are employed by the school in order to ensure continuity of care and to maintain good communication links.

At The Nest wrap around care we aim to provide a safe, secure and relaxed environment, offering a range of activities to reflect the interests of the children in our care.

About The Nest

The Nest wrap around care is based at Shamblehurst Primary School and is registered under the school with Ofsted (Registration No: 115972). We are open from 7:30 am to 8:40 am and 3:05 pm to 17:45 pm weekdays during term time. From Sept 2024 we will be open until 18.00pm

We are based at Shamblehurst Primary School every day. The school has large external play areas and extensive grounds in which to play including a Muga.

What we offer

Children are free to choose activities and resources as they wish. During the week there will always be a selection of activities and resources available, including dressing up, home corner, crafts, board games, construction, physical play, reading and homework club.

What we provide

The food we provide at the club is not intended as a substitute for a main evening meal. We will provide healthy snacks including fresh fruit and vegetables, whilst also taking into account any specific dietary needs due to medical conditions.

We promote independence, by encouraging the children to prepare their own snacks, and to clear away after themselves. Fresh drinking water is available at all times. We recognise the importance of healthy nutrition for children delivered in a calm, friendly setting and allow children to decide when they are ready to eat (within an agreed time slot), but request that food be consumed whilst sitting at a table.

Staffing

Our club is staffed by a Play Leader, and a number of play workers. We aim to provide a smooth transition between school and The Nest, and your child will be collected/delivered to their class by the staff at the end of the breakfast session and beginning of the after school session. In the event of your child attending a school based club or activity prior to attending The Nest, they will be collected from the activity by a member of The Nest staff.

All of our staff have significant experience of working with children and undertake professional development training. All staff members are DBS checked and are subject to safeguarding and prevent training in line with Ofsted requirements. We maintain staff ratios in line with current Ofsted requirements.

Before School sessions:

Breakfast’ session, 7.30am to 8.40am:

Price from Monday 15th April 2024

£5.50 per child per session
£5.00 per additional sibling attending the same session

After School session:

After School’ session, 3.05pm to 17.45pm:

Price from Monday 15th April 2024

£11.50 per child per session
£11.00 per additional sibling attending the same session

All parents can book sessions in Scopay in advance without the need to load credit. The admin team will monitor accounts and we ask that all accounts are settled by the end of each term. The following term sessions will be added at the end of the previous term once all accounts are settled.

The number of places are set in Scopay to ensure there is no overbooking of places. This will conform to our staff to child ratios.

Non-payment of fees may result in your child’s place being terminated.

There will be 4 codes that can be used to book on scopay;

A = Afterschool
Y = Sibling Afterschool
B = Breakfast
Z = Sibling Breakfast

The school will check bookings to ensure the sibling code is being used correctly.

If you pay by childcare vouchers, you will be able to book online, however you will need to advise the office that you have made a payment through your voucher company and if the payment is to be split between siblings. The admin team will track the payment coming into the school and action the credit to your Scopay account once received.

The Nest wrap around care is currently able to accept the following childcare vouchers, however we are happy to register with alternative companies if required. Please contact us with details of the provider you wish to use so that we can get set up.

The Nest terms & Conditions

We are delighted to be able to offer parents the facility of Wrap-around-Care at Shamblehurst Primary School. In order for our clubs to run efficiently and professionally the following rules must be adhered to:

All booked sessions must be paid for by the end of the term you are in. We prefer all payments to be made online in Scopay unless you pay by voucher. Please do not leave cash or cheques with the ASC staff as they do not have facilities to store the funds. Payments online or to the office only please.
The cut-off time for bookings in Scopay is midnight prior to the booking day.
After School Club numbers are limited; you will be unable to book if the club is full. (There is no flexibility with this).
Breakfast Club starts at 7:30 a.m.
After School Club closes at 6.00 p.m promptly. We will call you if you are late picking up and reserve the right to charge a late collection fee. The register must be signed when bringing your child into Breakfast Club or collecting from After School Club.

Cancellations of bookings can be made up to midnight in Scopay prior to day of booking. Money cannot be credited if your child does not attend and you have not cancelled the session or informed the office. Providing your session/s is cancelled in Scopay by midnight for any cancellation prior to the booking day, your Scopay account will be credited.
When reporting absence to the school office, please also inform the need to cancel your booking if necessary.
Persistent late collection of your child from the After School Club may result in you not being able to use the club’s facilities.
